Video of the Day: Death Star Over San Francisco

Posted By on Mon, Nov 16, 2009 at 11:42 AM

Death Star Over San Francisco from Mike Horn on Vimeo.

Mike Horn's fantasy of Regan's "Star Wars Strategic Defense Initiative" come to life is beautiful in its simplicity. Iconic space ships and mechanical transport from George Lucas' sci fi classic come to life, hovering over equally iconic San Francisco scenes. They fly over/storm across the bay, Coit Tower, Baker Beach, and our cute little parrots, with only minimal background noise behind them.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
