Track of the Day: Nisennenmondai

Posted By on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 10:45 AM

Like a locomotive charging ahead on frantic drum beats, feedback whistle blaring to announce a slight change of course, Nisennenmondai's music is a loud woosh of steady, intrepid momentum. The Japanese trio offers both the soundtrack for dancefloor convulsions and jarring noise rock experiments. Get lost in the forward thrust of "Tori Track 1" or the meditative clang of "Neji Track 5" on the Tokyo act's MySpace page.

The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
