I've been to lots of great (((folkYEAH!))) events over the years, but this one--just announced--for Saturday, August 29 is pretty much the sweetest lineup they've had yet. For one night the indie promoter is teaming with Kemado Records to host "In the Pines," featuring an incredible bill of psych, folk, metal, and bands that melt those pots together: Woods, Dungen, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Gang Gang Dance, Kurt Vile, Farmer Dave Scher, Saviours, VietNam, and Wooden Shjips. Dude. The one bummer is that tickets have barely gone on sale (supposedly you can grab them for $29 a pop through this site) and already all the cheap accommodations in town are booked/about to be booked up. If you think you might wanna go, I'd get on that ASAP.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
