You know it. I know it. And apparently the rest of the world knows it too: SF DJs rule. A plethora of local DJs are among the nominees for America's Best DJ, a DJ Times- sponsored competition whose closing party takes place September 12 at Rain nightclub (in the Palms casino) in Las Vegas. Here are our local heroes up for this prestigious award: Bassnectar, Behrouz, Claude Von Stroke, Dave Dresden, DJ Dan, DJ Shadow, Josh Gabriel, Kaskade, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, and Qbert.

Voting ends on August 9, so there's still time to stuff that ballot box until the sucker overflows. And, as an added incentive, folks who vote can win cool prizes, ranging from Pioneer pro DJ gear to a trip for two to the closing event, including flight, accommodations, and VIP status at the party. Cast your ballot here.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
