Mission Creek Music Fest has a ton of shows rolling out in mid-July, but this one in particular caught my eye. On Saturday, July 18 the promoters are hosting a big old (folk 'n' psych 'n') rock 'n' roll party at McLaren Park with Dead Meadow, Kelley Stoltz, Persephone's Bees, Devon Williams, Rubies,Bart Davenport, Xoel Lopez, Leopold & His Fiction, The Moore Brothers, Brian Glaze & The Night Shift, and Coatsie & Mellows. Lots and lots of great local acts there, intermixed with folks from L.A. and Spain(!), and DJs Neil Martinson & Vikki V. The concert goes from 11:30 a.m. until 8 p.m., and is all ages. One of the best parts? It's also free.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
