Bay Area R&B/Hip-hop singer/MC Netta B  (aka Netta Brielle) is on fire. Her new video "Dirty Boyz" premieres today, and tonight, she headlines "Electrik Rebel Sounds: The Concert" at La Pena in Berkeley. On Saturday, you can catch her at Oakland's Club Anton, and next Wednesday, she'll be at SF's Club Element.

But then, hotness is nothing new for Netta. As a child rapper, she performed with legends MC Hammer and Tupac Shakur. Coming up in the Bay, she developed a style of music she calls urban pop, which fuses hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and '80s new wave, while at the same time completing a degree in Musical Theater at SJ State. In 2008, she won the "The Def Jam Mega Star Search," and now, with a slew of blazing tunes like "Music," "I'm Alive," and "Gimme a Mic," and farenheit-raising tracks from Erk Da Jerk and Traxamillion, she appears ready to take on Ashanti, Beyonce, and Trina all at once. Currently she has a mixtape out, Meet Me on the Stage, which only whets appetites for a proper full-length. Watch a video of here performing Janet Jackson's "What Have You Done For Me Lately" and other delicious tunes in San Jose here. You go, girl!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
