Imagine that you stayed up all night getting stoned and listening to Boards of Canada, and by the time sun rose, you flipped on Saturday morning cartoons. Your brunchtime brain scramble might sound a little like the remix locals Telepathik Friend made for Spanish buddy Freeman Gheenga, available on Gheenga's MySpace page. The tune kicks off with the announcement: "This day is full of surprises" and is then punctuated by batches of cartoonish sound effects and animated voices, which are woven into a bed of woozy, ambient techno. It's a disorienting song that mixes a bright palate of vocal samples with hazy, gray background shades, perfect for those times of day when you can't quite settle your head into reality.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
