SF's esteemed world music label Six Degrees have added to their already enviable track record (which includes Bebel Gilberto, Bossacucanova, Alice Russell, and Cheb I Sabbah) with Fondo, the latest album from Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Toure. The album, which drops May 26, is a stunning display of traditional African folk music blended with a bit of blues-rock.

Though obviously inspired by his late father, the legendary Ali Farka Toure, Fondo finds Toure picking up the baton and running with it over Yossi Fine's masterful production, which subtly integrates electric elements into Western Saharan flavor. It's a "statement" album which might redefine the way you think about both African music and rock-- in Toure's hands, the two genres aren't as far apart as they seemed. Toure's North American tourdates, which begin in June, will be announced soon. Peep a video of VFT playing "Ana" here.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
