Those going to SoCal folkster Devendra Banhart's sold-out show at the Independent a week from today could get the treat of some new tunes. After the release of Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon in 2007, Banhart has remained busy--dating and breaking up with Natalie Portman, recording a side project called Megapuss, and just recently, wrapping up work on a new record. The as of yet untitled album is in the mixing phase now. No word if the new tunes have caused the dude's scrotum to drop as low Smokey did.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
