The iPod shuffle is the greatest invention ever -- especially for bringing oldies but goodies back up from the depths of your music collection. Case in point: Walking to work yesterday the Heartless Bastards' cover of Mississippi Delta bluesman Junior Kimbrough's song "Done Got Old" surfaced outta nowhere. The song gets an extra rock kick from these Bastards, but it's Erika Wennerstrom's rusty-nail wail that really adds texture to this bluesy lament. I have the song from an old Kimbrough covers comp, Sunday Nights: The Songs of Junior Kimbrough, but you can check it out via Lastfm here. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
