To help spread the good news on local "interstellar punks" Mi Ami, the San Francisco trio is the band behind today's MP3 of the Day. And what's this positive twist in their tale? The group signed to Quarterstick Records -- part of Touch and Go -- and will release a 12" in January and full-length in February. For now you can unravel your noggin with their subterranean basslines, spiraling percussion, and slinky sound effects (the band's grooves extend so far they've practically got comet tails trailing behind 'em). Check out "Ark Version" (or the soft cathedral hums of "Clear Light") on the band's MySpace page. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
