We've got a ton of laughing to look forward to as the SF Sketchfest brings a month's worth of hilarity in January, but there's a few pre-game shows to tide us over until the new year. Jonathan Katz reprises his role as Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist at the Herbst Theatre Dec. 9, where he'll be counseling Todd Barry, Bob Odenkirk from Mr. Show, and Laura Silverman from the Sarah Silverman Program. The Sketchfest Preview Show follows the next night at Cobb's Dec. 9, where highlights and headliners for the upcoming festival will be announced. Tickets for both shows are available now. --Oscar Pascual

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
