It's quite official that Guitar Hero is a cultural phenomenon. If you don't believe me, then apparently you don't watch South Park, Californication, or Mariah Carey videos. You also probably churn your own butter, tend to rabbits, and live off the fat of the land. But if you do understand the irresistible charm of those miniature plastic Gibsons, then you can play the brand-new Guitar Hero: World Tour hours before everyone else at Amoeba Music's midnight release and preview party in Berkeley this Saturday night, Oct. 25. Otherwise, I guess you could go play a rousing game of Duck Duck Goose in a dark cave with your fellow culturally-inept cronies. Visit for more info. --Oscar Pascual

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
