In this tough economy, personal budgets are being slashed left and right. But some things you're gonna shell out the cash for no matter what -- booze and live music among them. Oakland's Red Meat won't make you chose between the two, however, when they perform a free show at Cafe du Nord on Thursday, Oct. 23. Save your money and sing along with our local country darlings as they lament "Dag nabbit this honkey tonk habit's gonna make a poor man out of me." -- Jennifer Maerz

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage.
