Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard is coming to San Francisco next week -- to play a show, sure, but really to plant trees in a special S.F. neighborhood to be announced later. On Saturday, Oct. 18. Gossard will be digging dirt in partnership with Earthkeepers which aims to make the world better and stuff by planting trees and gardens (their goal is 1 million trees planted by 2010). After a full day of gardening, Gossard will perform that same night at the Grand, but the only way fans can get tickets is by putting a couple trees in the ground themselves. More info here. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
