What other local radio station is gonna play Harry Nilsson besides the intrepidly eclectic KUSF? This morning I heard this pretty excellent oldie, "Jump Into the Fire," a song that has a rumblin'-down-the-road bassline; Nilsson's raspy, repeated promise that "We can make each other happy"; and good time boogie guitars guaranteed to lift your spirits even higher than Nilsson's fevered yowl (plus a drum solo like you're not gonna hear on today's commercial radio). It's the sweet stuff like this that hopefully gets folks off their asses to donate to the non-commerical station during its quiet drive. Check out the awesome jam for yourself here, in tribute to a songwriter once hailed by the Beatles for good reason. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
