If you're involved in some aspect of the music industry -- playing in bands, building websites, running a label, managing an artist, whatever, the sorta monthly Musica Technomica is a great way to keep up on what's happening in the Bay Area in a very casual enviroment. Organized by David Hymen (Mog) and David Katznelson (Birdman Records), the gathering usually features a live performance by a local act and speakers from a music-focused company on the tech side of things. The idea is to keep everyone informed--while enjoying tasty beverages at one of the coolest yacht clubs in the city, the Mariposa Hunter's Point Yacht Club. The next gathering is tomorrow night starting at 7 p.m. More info at Musicatechnomica.com. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
