(Megapuss CD booklet)

Megapuss, Devendra Banhart's new collab with Greg Rogove of New York heavies Priestbird, has the most ridiculous CD booklet image out there, hands down. But if you're curious what it sounds like when the bearded troubador strips down with his hairy companion, check out "Crop Circle Jerk 94" a song about getting it on that could easily have come from Banhart's excellent 2007 release, Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Mountain. "Adam and Steve," meanwhile, is more of a prog-folk combo, with more electric guitar solos than usual from the Banhart catalog. You can hear both tracks at Megapuss' MySpace page. Megapuss hits the area twice this month: once as part of the FolkYeah))) end of Sept. blowout and then as the opening act for Entrance at the Independent on Sept. 28. The show most likely won't include all of the Mega-guests who recorded on the band's upcoming album, but that troup includes Human Giant's Aziz Ansari and Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes, among others. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
