Richie Unterberger Kicks Out Vintage Jams Next Week

Posted By on Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 6:20 AM

One of my favorite things about living in S.F. is checking out rock historian Richie Unterberger's movie nights at the Page St. Library up in the Haight. His free screenings always cull the coolest footage from back in the day -- the only hitch is you've gotta get there early because floor and chair space fills up early. The setlist, from Richie: "Pink Floyd, the MC5, Brenda Lee, Melanie, Simon & Garfunkel, and numerous others. There will be no repeats from previous events; entirely new material will be shown." -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
