The local indie rock boys in Birdmonster caught the eye (and ear) of Fader -- the esteemed New York-based underground music mag that's working its way towards establishing a record label. So far Fader Label has released Saul Williams' latest disc, and this week marks the digital offering of Birdmonster's new collection of songs, Mountain to the Sea (available online as of today, physical release hits stores Sept. 2). With the magazine, the label, and the third wing of the Fader empire, Cornerstone promotions, behind the band, expect to hear a lot more about Birdmonster in the upcoming months. But first, you can hear one of their new songs, "Born To Be Your Man," a poppy, sweet little love song in the vein of Arcade Fire and Tapes 'n' Tapes, and other Boss-inspired acts. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
