Marabelle Phoenix at Sleepless Nights

Posted By on Wed, Jul 30, 2008 at 4:38 PM

Some of us missed Sleepless Nights, the annual Gram Parsons tribute weekend before last at the Great American Music Hall. We suck. But someone sent us this YouTubed partial of "A Song for You" by Marabelle Phoenix, and if everything goes the way we want it to, you're looking at the next Lucinda Williams. Ladies and gentlemen … Noelle Cahill! The video quality is so-so (still, thank you to whoever shot it!), and of course the audio is far from ideal. But it's a great song and a great brand-new singer.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
