The Verve have been busy at more than reunion tours these days. The Brits wrapped a new album, Forth (which, no surprise, will be their fourth record) and those 10 songs are due to go public August 19. For now, though, the band is offering one single, "Love is Noise," for streaming on their Web site. Another track, "Mover," is a free download, though, for one week only. The song is pretty much in line with the olden days of the Verve-- a loud, bombastic shoegazer rock with Richard Ashcroft's moody croon floating in the middle. Not bad, but I'm still curious what the record as a whole will hold. Check out "Mover" this week at the Verve's Web site. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
