(Nina Simone)

Local music historian Richie Unterberger is back with his amazing collection of rare music footage from back in the olden days (usually the '60s and '70s). Next Wednesday, April 16, Unterberger returns to the Page St. Library (1833 Page Street) at 7 p.m. for two hours of never seen before goodies from the likes of "Everly Brothers, Lulu, Jack Bruce, Dusty Springfield, John Cale, Nina Simone, and numerous others." Get there early, too. His events are always free, entertaining, and packed to the gills. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
