Another Planet Entertainment, the promoters behind the Independent and the Greek Theatre among other venues, has taken over the Bill Graham Civic, and will book the 3,000 capacity Fox Oakland Theater when that opens in November. According to APE's Allen Scott, the Bill Graham Civic is undergoing rennovations (it closed March 31) and will re-open in 2009. "We’re going to renovate the space, do a lot with the acoustics, and change the vibe a little bit," says Scott. The Greek, meanwhile, kicks off its concert season with an R.E.M./Modest Mouse/The National show on May 31. -- Jennifer Maerz

The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
