Coming Up at 21 Grand

In the Gallery - Starting Friday, January 11th: Works by Kerri Lee

Johnson and Chela Fielding.

This exhibit features drawings by Kerri Lee Johnson and assemblage

sculpture by Chela Fielding. Both artists incorporate a sense of

playfulness into their work: Johnson through her use of

anthropomorphized animals common to childrens' storybooks, and Fielding

through colorful patterns and disjunctive combinations of objects.

21 Grand's experimental music programming is funded in part by grants

from the City of Oakland's Cultural Funding Program, the Zellerbach

Family Foundation, and the Clorox Arts Mini-Grant Initiative. We receive

general support from the Alameda County Arts Commission Artsgrant

program and individual donors.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
