New Hamburger Eyes in stores, or should we say Hamburger Ears

Posted By on Fri, Jul 13, 2007 at 6:36 PM

The latest issue of the world-class, locally-produced photo zine Hamburger Eyes came out recently. This one's called Hamburger Ears, as the eleventh issue of the wordless publication features only shots that are music-related. In the mag's typically artful mix of high and low brow, novice and amateur, Hamburger Ears features pics of famous folks like Debbie Harry, Nirvana, and Jay-Z next to Japanese psych rockers, local punks and metalheads, hip-hop kids, and other underground and unknown acts. For ten bucks it's totally worth the eye candy. And photographers range from the Potes brothers and co-editor Stefan Simikich to grunge dude Charles Peterson, N.Y. king Ricky Powell, and old schooler Michael Jang. --Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
