Silas Baxter-Neal's ollies, grinds, and kickflips are the stuff of legend — or, at least, the stuff of repeated slack-jawed YouTube views. So it comes as little surprise that the 25-year-old resident of Eugene, Oregon, has been named Thrasher Magazine's 2008 Skater of the Year. What is surprising, however, is that Oakland old-skool hip-hop pioneer and independent trailblazer Too $hort will perform live as the featured guest at Thrasher's Skater of the Year Party. No word on whether $hort Dog will sport checkered Vans or patent leather Stacy Adams. However, if you're anticipating a sausage-fest, Thrasher's site promises "the first 100 lovely ladies age 18 or older in line for our bash will get in for free!".

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
