British producer Tim Exile began his recording career a decade ago, releasing drum and bass singles for the genre's seminal label, Moving Shadow. In recent years, he has moved beyond the junglistic style. He is now in the company of experimental electronic artists Aphex Twin and Autechre at Warp Records, which released his current album, Listening Tree. "Keep changing every day/Don't stay the same, or you'll be a fool," the creepy, heavily altered voices advise in the standout "Family Galaxy," a tune that demands focus even as all its textures unravel.
