Thee Oh Sees: Show Preview

Friday, Jul 12 2013

It's that time of year again, when San Francisco's independent music fans look forward to a (hopefully) sunny day spread out on the lawns of Potrero Del Sol Park, soundtracked by lots of live music and the arrhythmic clackety-clack of the nearby skatepark. Local music blog the Bay Bridged has assembled another excellent lineup for this year's Phono Del Sol festival, featuring deans of the local psych-rock scene Thee Oh Sees, trippy dance-punk survivors YACHT, the Stanford-educated white-girl hip-hop of K.Flay, and New York shredder Marnie Stern's newly introspective guitar assault. With support from locals like Painted Palms and Social Studies, this affordable one-day fest should make for yet another fine mid-July Saturday.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
