Super Natural

Wednesday, Jun 3 2009
The reigning monarchs of poster sales come together at "Georgia O'Keeffe and Ansel Adams: Natural Affinities." Did we just take a swipe at two great American artists? Yes, but a loving one: The painter and the photog are genuinely superduper amazing, which has led to what might politely be called overpopularity. All the same, "Natural Affinities" is a neat curatorial idea, since the two were both prolific in the 1930s, were friends, and shared a grand love of the outdoors — photographer Adams was even an early spokesman for the Sierra Club. Besides, as with most images you're used to seeing in reproduction, viewing them in real life will blow you in your mind.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
