South by Southwest Fashion WINs and FAILs

A poignant commentary on the fashions of SXSW 2009 as spotted on the streets of Austin, TX. PHOTOS AND CAPTIONS BY ANDREA GRIMES
At first glance, this guy could be a WIN. The shirts cool, the shades are well-sized. But it was upwards of 80 degrees outside, and a white leather jacket and a sweaty forehead are a FAIL.
Cute jeans and a purple tank work. But bringing your mom in white cotton pants is an accessorizing FAIL.
This may be Texas, but weve discovered shirts. And we wear them. And so should this guy.
Being English and being in a band (ladies and gents, meet Angry Vs. The Bear) is no excuse to pop the lenses out of your neon shades. Somewhere in 1998, a rave is missing all its jewelry.
Being old and metal is FAIL.
What you cant see is the tight, red rubber band that adheres this dudes glasses to his greasy, greasy head. White sneakers? Irony FAIL.
Pot belly, short shorts and flipped brim are an epic We just discovered VICE magazine FAIL.
Dude is distraught, but its hard to say why: the sagging shorts? The hair? The unfortunate skate shoes? Maybe he knows hes a FAIL.
Maybe the reason she could pull off the bull nose ring is cause shes foreign; or maybe her adorable hair flower just demands more attention.
Comfy tee, cute vest and a sweet little straw hat are a night on the town WIN.
Cowboy boots are a SXSW must-have, and with a minimal amount of accessories and this belted dress, this blond pulls off a serious WIN.
Who can rock a nautical blazer, skinny jeans and sandals? This girl, who WINs.
The shirt is too loud, the belt is tacky, and the accessories are overdone. But shes a teenager at SXSW. What were you doing when you were 16? Hanging out at rock clubs? Or sitting at home crying? Yeah, she WINs.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
