Things have been relatively quiet at the 1000 Van Ness building lately. AMC has posted ticket-takers on each floor of the movie theater to stop Harry from enjoying his two-for-one special matinee, and the lobby space that was supposed to house the revolutionary new takeout concept called Eatzie's is still empty. But fear not: Those left unsatisfied by dry popcorn, or craving carbs post-Crunch, will be delighted to hear the Venture Frog guys are opening an as-yet-unnamed noodle and cold bar in what was to have been the Eatzie's spot. The renowned Barbara Tropp of China Moon consulted on a menu that will include hot and cold items to eat in or take away.
Chef George Morrone knows that spring is in the air and a young man's fancy turns to ... roasted squab breast. Six months after its opening, Fifth Floor is changing its menu. Don't worry, the tuna tartare will still be featured (with pistachios this time around). And Harry can't wait to dig into the duet of Wagyu and Argentine beef tenderloin with chickpea fries. ... There's a new chef presiding over the glitterati at the Zodiac Club. Lia Taddei, who last stirred it up at Asia SF, will bring her delicate touch to the astrologically changing menu.

Spiffy new awnings adorn a number of our corner stores courtesy of the largess and advertising acumen of this out-of-town paper. The slogan reads, "New York Times: Expect the World," but don't expect the comics.
