Seven Writers Walk Out of a Bar

Wednesday, Jan 15 2014

So, what happens when writers leave their computers, put down their notebooks, and seek contact with the outside world? If this was Family Feud and you answered something containing the word "bar," you would no doubt receive the most points. But let's make things more interesting: What happens when writers venture into the great outdoors? If you answered with a chuckle, you're probably in the majority, and will be excited to learn that seven members of the San Francisco Writers' Grotto will soon answer this question for themselves while you enjoy complimentary food and booze in S.F.'s favorite sporting goods store. The Grotto has been putting together a series of comical events lately, and Sports Debasement ought to be no exception. Featuring Po Bronson, Laura Fraser, Tom Barbash, Diana Kapp, James Nestor, Rhodes Fishburn, and Caroline Paul, the program includes a raffle with some rad prizes and special discounts on the store's merchandise. A percentage of all purchases will be donated to Scholar Match.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
