Leave it to a bunch of Brazilians to bring a party vibe to the ongoing '80s music redux. A multicolored gob toward the legions of dour Cure copyists, CSS has been offering up its contagious electropop to the global dancefloor since forming in São Paulo five years ago. Filled with buzzing synths, chunky guitars, and ridiculous pop-culture references, the band's eponymous 2006 debut earned it a solid following in the States. Principal songwriter and producer Adriano Cintra may have smoothed out some of the group's rough edges on sophomore release Donkey, but a fierce stage show anchored by lead singer Lovefoxxx' kinetic live performance made CSS one of the highlights of this year's Treasure Island Music Festival.
