Pretty Trippy

Everything you need to know about music, you can learn from “Stacie Marie Willoughby.” The rather legendary rock posters in her new exhibit often use a base of warped 19th-century beauties both male and female; many appear confused and yet proud of their headdresses. Each poster is a sweet, complicated piece of tripped-out ephemera, but en masse they make a tiny fairyland of provoked exclamations, such as "Earthless, Witch, and Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound played the Brookdale Lodge in '05!? Where the fuck was I?" Willoughby offers prints for so cheap, we're considering some sort of wallpaper scenario, because life would be so groovy surrounded by her undulating towers, rippling ribbons, and majestic figures rendered in deep, gentle colors.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
