Owl Kick Your Ass

Wednesday, Dec 8 2010
The owl thing just won't go away. What is it about them that has every woman between the ages of 25 and 45 so insane? We see owl tattoos, more of them than you'd think. Owls symbolize wisdom, owls are ferocious nocturnal death machines, and owls poop collectibles, all of which is tres cool, but what the? At the Renegade Craft Fair, owls appear on cards (“Owl love you forever”), t-shirts from Bird Mafia, Catherine Reece's ceramics, Shara Porter's handbags, almost all the art prints of somebody who goes by Mincing Mockingbird, and undoubtedly more. Although this glut is incomprehensible, we want it all. Every owl thing. We will never have enough owls! Pretty pretty owls. Luckily the hand-screened Renegade Craft Fair poster features a large Snowy Owl with an abstract rainbow coming out of its butt. Other highlights of the craft fair include our own choice for Best Local Skincare Line, the silky-face-inducing By Nieves, Sweet Meats Plush Toys, and Blue Ribbon Salvage.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
