Obliterations: Show Preview

Most bands would kill to have the pedigree of L.A. punk outfit Obliterations. Former Bluebird and Night Horse singer Sam James Velde initially teamed up with relocated Canuck rocker Stephen McBean (of Black Mountain and Pink Mountaintops fame) with the idea of playing hardcore in the vein of mutual inspiration Black Flag, but at house parties. It only took a couple of practices with Saviours main man Austin Barber on bass and Florian Schanze on drums to realize the combination was far too ass-kicking to consign to local drunken fiestas. Obliterations bring corrosive tunes from the band's debut four-song 7-inch when the quartet comes to Northern California this week.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
