New to You

Wednesday, Nov 21 2012
As the country is besieged by catastrophic climate changes, it's hard not to be a little worried about earthquakes and San Francisco's proximity to the San Andreas Fault. In ForePlays' latest sketch comedy variety show, "The New California," the Big One has indeed struck and broken the Golden State off from the rest of America, leaving it to its own quirky devices. If people thought California was strange before, they'd certainly be shocked by what happens when there's suddenly a whole lot more beachfront property to squabble over, a lot less attention paid to self-aggrandizing celebrities, and only a finite amount of mall shopping to be had. And though ForePlays is a local and female-centric sketch comedy troupe, a few token males are around to play with on this new island territory. Explore the latest apocalyptic frontier not with machetes or zombie repellent, but with laughter.
Wednesdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Nov. 28. Continues through Dec. 19, 2012

Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
