Love Is All You Need

If you've only ever heard "Da Doo Ron Ron" blaring out of cruddy speakers outdoors -- which is a fine, fine experience -- you're missing out. Darlene Love's massive, deathless summer jam deserves the audiophile treatment, so pop on those headphones, adjust your levels, and prepare to sweat. (We figure you already properly worship the philosophy lesson wrapped in snappy bubblegum that is "He's A Rebel.") Alternatively, check the lady out live, at Teatro Zinzanni's famous dinner show, Sultry Summer Magic, presented in the world's coolest tent. Love plays Madame Zinzanni, so the show offers plenty of chances to hear her national treasure of a voice, in addition to the array of zany and delightful circus performers who attend her.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Jan. 15. Continues through Jan. 31, 2009

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
