List: How Higher Fares Will Improve S.F. Cab Service

Wednesday, Aug 10 2011

San Francisco has approved the first rise in cab fares in eight years, along with new measures to increase cab availability. How will cab service improve in S.F.?

• When you call dispatch, they'll pretend to care harder

• Drivers will make small talk about art and literature

• Lovely pine scent

• One lucky rider per night will get to sit next to Willie Brown and hear his fascinating stories

• Drivers will have something more closely approximating health care

• After 2 a.m., cars will deploy backseat barf bags

• Cab drivers will be specially trained by experts to know where the Sunset is

• Left-hand turns will be 30 percent less terrifying
