Conor McPherson's ghost story Shining City got good reviews in the New York Times two years ago (it featured Oliver Platt and Martha Plimpton); Ben Brantley called it "quiet, haunting and absolutely glorious." It's an emotional story involving a therapist, his first-ever patient, and the apparition of the patient's dead wife. All, apparently, are lonely and displaced. Shining City sound like a perfect choice for director Amy Glazer -- she like Chekhov a lot, too. This production features Paul Whitworth, Alex Moggridge, Beth Wilmurt, and Alex Conde.
Tuesdays, 7 p.m.; Wednesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 3 p.m. Starts: Oct. 21. Continues through Nov. 22, 2008

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
