Even when turning down the dissonance, Brooklyn three-piece Liars just keep getting weirder. Once known for iterations on Gang of Four-style dance-punk (typified by their 2001 debut They Threw Us in a Trench and Stuck a Monument on Top), Liars have played with discordant and sometimes genuinely creepy experiments in the intervening decade. Their new full-length, WIXIW (pronounced "wish you"), steers their primal, almost tribal meditations in yet another unexpected direction: an electronic chill reminiscent of Radiohead's Kid A.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
