Dwelling in San Francisco today are entire swaths of thirty-somethings who remember a time when "emo" wasn't a dirty word; when you could like hardcore and have feelings at the same time; and when the world was spoiled rotten with bands of slightly nerdy, relentlessly sensitive boys. Most of those thirty-somethings will no doubt be showing up for this: the first night of Knapsack's long-awaited reunion tour. The California outfit's effortless, ahem, knack for invigorating melodies, quiet-loud dynamics, passionate vocals, and intimate storytelling means Knapsack remains much-adored and missed to this day. It's been 15 years since the band toured the U.S. and there are only five dates on this run — we suggest you catch one while you can.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
