Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez: Show Preview

Wednesday, Aug 18 2010

Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez has truly lived the life eclectic. Since 1985, his music has zigzagged from house to hip-hop while soaking up Brooklyn's reggae flavors and incorporating his Nuyorican roots. The DJ and producer has seen commercial success remixing Janet Jackson and Daft Punk, and racked up dance hits as half of the Masters at Work production duo (the other half is "Little" Louie Vega). But he remains a devoted DJ, having released dozens of break records that have given fellow jocks a deadly cache of remix tools. Gonzalez' soulful, percussive tracks are a perfect fit for SOM Bar's newest monthly, "Ritmos Sin Fronteras" (Rhythms Without Borders), which exists to demolish genre barriers and get your behind moving.
