Life is a series of fleeting moments that we desperately — and fruitlessly — attempt to seize. For some, in fact, it will take longer to read this article than those serendipitous encounters and otherwise life-altering happenings. It seems certain that attempts to explore the spectrum of human emotions within these moments are a near-lost cause. This is the very challenge facing the Second Annual San Francisco One-Minute Play Festival. Created by New York theater guru Dominic D’Andrea, the festival distills stories to their most immediate and innate form. The event creates a radical dialogue by bombarding audience members with quick narratives — many of whose characters and settings represent San Francisco’s vast cultural diversity. Living in pursuit of time’s suspension means we double our efforts in finding a moment to spare — choosing to read e-mail while driving, or searching for something online while in front of the TV. Thirty actors and nearly 40 playwrights present more than 80 performances that are each one minute long, so you’ll have many moments to seize.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
