Jimmy Edgar: Show Preview

Wednesday, Sep 15 2010

Since the sprightly age of 15, Jimmy Edgar has been making his mark in the world of electronic dance. The precocious Detroit native is a visual artist as well, but it was the austere music he produced for massive record labels like Warp and !K7 that elevated his early notoriety. As evidenced on his latest full-length album, the recently released XXX, the now-27-year-old Edgar employs the frigid sexuality of '80s funk, electro, and pop, applying it to lengthy hypnotic techno tracks. His brand of dancefloor futurism is part Kraftwerk, part Carl Craig, and part Prince, and fueled entirely by sex, drugs, and fashion.
