Jel: Show Preview

Wednesday, Aug 14 2013

It's been nearly seven years since Oakland producer and rapper Jeffrey Logan, better known as Jel, released his last album — but you can't accuse the guy of being lazy. This co-founder of Anticon Records has been waving the Bay Area indie hip-hop flag all the while, collaborating with rap duo Main Attrakionz and releasing records with other projects like Themselves and 13&God. For his third solo effort, Late Pass, Logan went back to the meticulous sampling and brain-sizzling beats he's known for, working with fellow savants Odd Nosdam and Daddy Kev. He celebrates Late Pass in Oakland this week, on the very day of its release, with a host of like-minded (and similarly talented) hip-hop heads.

Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
