It's a Big House

San Francisco and Berlin seem to be feeling the same funk right now when it comes to the healthy flow of electro-influenced house music that's coming out of the two cities. It's a slow but deliberate type of boogie that eschews genre clichés like wailing divas in favor of honing in on the most effective elements of the bare groove. The end result is often far sexier and mas macho than show-offy vocal gymnastics and unimaginative lyrics. S.F. and Berlin will share audio curatorial powers in spreading this sound when local duo Broker/Dealer (which has an arsenal of new material to share) and German artists Dirt Crew, appearing in town for the first time, DJ together.

Broker/Dealer also DJs alongside a live appearance by Swedish techno artist the Field at “Pop” on July 21 at Rx Gallery.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
