Hudson Hawk, a cartoonish 1991 Bruce Willis comedy and box office bomb, is about as profoundly uncool as a movie can get. Remarkably, its memory partially lives on in the 2010s all thanks to Hudson Mohawke, the nom-de-electronica of highly in-demand producer and DJ Ross Birchard. (Birchard says he picked the name after seeing it carved into a statue somewhere, but the association still stands.) The London-based Scotsman is responsible for one record (2009's Butter) and a heap of EPs that emphasize snappy drumbeats, club-friendly verve, and a hyperactive, psychedelic sparkle. Solo work aside, HudMo has made waves by teaming with Canadian producer Lunice as TNGHT, and producing tracks for the likes of Drake, Pusha T, John Legend, and Kanye West; he assisted on Yeezus' "I am a God" and "Blood on the Leaves" for the latter.
