Gene Ween

Wednesday, Jun 10 2009

The brilliant weird-rock duo Ween is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. "But they look so young!" you might say. Indeed, neither singer-guitarist Gene nor Dean Ween has hit 40 yet. They started the band in New Hope, Pennsylvania, in their early teens, and have written literally thousands of songs over the years. Dean has been laying low until the Ween anniversary celebration kicks into high gear later this year. But Gene has been touring with his Gene Ween Band (which includes members of Ween), playing Ween classics, new songs, covers, and unrecorded and/or unreleased tunes from 25 years of Zappa/Prince/'shrooms–inspired experimental rock lunacy.

Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
